Teamtris: A 4-player DOS Tetris Game

Teamtris is one of the best and most fun multi-player Tetris games that you’ve probably never heard of.

This year (2011) marks the 20th anniversary of when Teamtris was finished. Twenty years later, it has finally been made free for all you retro gamers and Tetris addicts!

Yes, it’s a DOS game, but you can enjoy it on all modern operating systems (Windows, Mac, and Linux) with DOSBox.

The game was coded by Tony Jedlovsky and myself, and you can read all about how the game was developed here. I also composed the music for the game: 28 pieces of original music written for the Adlib sound card. If you like retro game music, you can download the whole soundtrack for free on the Teamtris music page.

Seems odd to be using a blog post to chat about a MS-DOS game.

Seriously, my Mom is a huge Tetris fan. So, we will play this with her on her next visit.

    Fun!

What is the format of the original music? I like the MP3 songs, but if they are available as MOD or S3M, would those be available as downloads? I enjoy MOD music more.

I really liked how this game allows for unique and obscene naming of the Tetris pieces. This should be submitted to an interactive public art gallery (i.e. Nuit Blanche) for the public to play the game. There should be a wall sized ( i.e. 5m tall at least) projection of the game with in-game player audio to be heard by the public.

    Examples:
    1. Put your _ _ _ _ _ in here!
    2. get down quickly so I can blow the _ _ _ _ _ !
